Wightman Fletcher Melton (September 26, 1867-November 10, 1944) was the son of Rev. Isaac Quimby and Fanny Louise (Ellis) Melton. He was born at Ripley, Tennessee, graduated from Peabody College, Nashville in 1889; A.B., Blount College, Blountsville, Alabama, 1890; Ph. D., Johns Hopkins, 1906. He married Oliver Keller on September 19, 1889. He taught at various colleges and was professor of English language and literature at Emory University, 1908-1924.
